A History of Coaches Bible Studies:
The NE Alabama Coaches Bible Studies begun in 2008 on 8 campuses have grown and are now on 22 different campuses with close to 200 coaches attending. The studies starting in Madison County now include Marshall and Cullman counties. The course entitled: “The Legacy Builders- How to Win God’s Way and Leave a Legacy in Your Players”, is for 12 weeks. Most studies begin before school with a breakfast and discuss Rod Olson’s workbook “Legacy Builders” and are lead either by a staff person or a former coach. After 6 weeks the FCA facilitator moves to a different campus to begin a new study. The course is structured so that any of the coaches in the group can lead after the staff moves to another campus.
This year’s schools which had a Legacy Builder Study were: Bob Jones, New Hope High, UAH, Huntsville High, Catholic High, Guntersville High, Albertville High, Randolph, Fairview, Columbia, Holly Pond High, Cullman High, Hanceville High, Boaz High, Grissom High, Madison County High, Alabama A&M, DAR, Arab High, Whitesburg Middle and Hayden High.
If you are interested in beginning a “Legacy Builders” Coach study on your campus you may contact Ralph Keel at rkeel@fca.org or (256) 653-5494
__________________________________________________ Coach of the Month
FCA began a new ministry called “Coach of the Month”, where each month a local coach was recognized for displaying to their players FCA’s values of Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence. The award includes an engraved FCA Coach’s Bible, a gift certificate to Carrabba’s Italian Restaurant, and the coach's picture in the newspaper sports section. From these selected coaches FCA will award the Coach of the Year.
For more information on the FCA Coaches Ministry, please contact Ralph Keel at rkeel@fca.org
Carl Stewart, a professional marriage and family counselor, and his wife Julie (also a professional counselor) made themselves available to our participants during our annual Coach & Spouse Time Out Weekend (January 15th-17th, 2010). We are deeply appreciative of the gift of their time during this past weekend. Contact information for Carl: Www.asburyumc.ws/counselingcenter.htm or his email address: office@carlstewartlpc.org
Ken Smith's Slide Show Available from 2010 Coach and Spouse Time Out Weekend
We are excited about our annual Coach and Spouse Time Out Weekend (January 15th-17th). We worshipped with Jonathan and Lisa Moore, fellowshipped with each other and were both encouraged and equipped by Ken Smith during our main sessions and then by George Mayer and Carl Stewart during our breakout sessions. Ralph Keel brought us the Word Sunday morning and we had a time of sharing what God had done in our lives the last few days. If you would like to join us in next year, please note that the retreat will be January 14th-16th, 2011. Many of our participants requested that Ken Smith's Saturday morning presentation slide show be made available on our web page --please note the attachment below.
